A New Chapter for Writers: Welcome to The Realm of Rough Drafts
With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and its incredible community March of last year. Though the beloved organization has closed and the website will eventually disappear too, the spirit of NaNoWriMo — the passion for writing, community support, and the challenge of daring to dream big — lives on.
At The Realm of Rough Drafts, we want to keep that spirit alive.
Even without NaNoWriMo officially guiding our pens, we still believe in the power of setting goals, pushing through the rough drafts, and celebrating each other’s creativity. That's why we are thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting Camp NaNo groups and writing workshops this July 1st–July 31st right here in High Springs, FL!
If you’re looking for a place to chase your writing dreams, connect with fellow storytellers, and find the encouragement to keep going even when the words feel tangled — you’re invited. 🖋️✨
Our events will include:
Writing groups and write-ins to keep the momentum alive.
Workshops on character building, world creation, and story structure.
Discussion groups featuring inspiring reads from a recommended booklist.
Goal-setting meetups in a welcoming, no-pressure environment.

Meet Our Mascot: Nook the Dragon 📖
At the heart of our club is Nook, our cozy dragon mascot who reminds us that every great story starts with a single rough draft. Whether you're scribbling on napkins, typing furiously into the night, or dreaming up worlds between your day job and everything else — you’re a writer. And The Realm of Rough Drafts is here to make sure you have a space to grow, create, and share.
We are building a platform that gives voice to both new and seasoned authors, offering inspiration through book recommendations, discussions, and a community that understands the magic (and chaos) of first drafts.
